Visakhapatnam Port Trust will open all its 27 berths and other facilities in the inner and outer harbour areas for students and general public for three days from Saturday (October 6), as part of its 85th Foundation Day celebrations.
Based on the registrations, time slots will be allotted to the visitors to avoid congestion. The celebrations will conclude with a function at Port Kalavani Indoor Stadium on October 7. Scholarships will be distributed to the meritorious children of the port employees, said VPT Chairman M.T. Krishna Babu.
The students above 8th class and college students will be permitted to visit the port area on Saturday and Monday while Sunday has been earmarked for the visit by the general public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students who wish to visit may furnish their details through their respective schools and colleges through email to secretary.vizagport
The schools and colleges have been requested to make their own transport arrangement.
They need to contact Port visit Facilitation Team at VCTPL (fishing harbour-contact Officer Avataramu Naidu, Deputy Traffic Manager (9848025429). The port will make bus arrangement for schools located in the neighbourhood.
